How I Started “The Country Dog Hotel”
My name is Rebecca and I have owned, fostered and rescued dogs of various shapes and sizes most of my life. My family and I live in a farmhouse on the Quantock Hills with our dogs, turkeys and chickens.
In the past I have been a key player in helping others set up businesses and I now feel I have the relevant experience and knowledge to run The Country Dog Hotel successfully. I have been heavily involved with working with animals for the last 10 years as well as always having a love for animals from a very young age. My experience ranges from volunteering for the dog rescue charity ‘Soi Dog’ in Thailand (and actually adopting a Thai street dog and bringing her back to the UK), fostering over 50 dogs at home and helping to rehabilitate and re-home them, being involved with and working in all aspects of a dog kennelling business for 3 years with dogs who boarded and in rescue, working in a vets practice and going on the local radio to talk about rescue dogs.
Mike is a huge dog lover too. Having grown up with dogs he has always been comfortable and welcoming around dogs. His mum has spent many years showing dogs and being involved in helping rescue dogs. Mike is a qualified RSQP (being able to sell and advice on over the counter animal medicines) and has worked within the farming retail industry for six years before deciding he wanted to work with children with special educational needs.
Mike is great at assisting Rebecca with both the boarding and walking services. He has been a key player in helping the business go from strength to strength.
